The Wave

Nestled where the Sahara Desert collides with the Atlantic Ocean, this point break is a world class sand-bottom right that was secretly known as one of Morocco’s funnest waves for decades.

When a solid winter North Atlantic swell hits the coast in late November, it wraps flawlessly around a massive sandspit, groomed by a completely offshore wind into a machine-like, glassy wall. The wave is incredibly long and highly progressive, stretching out for hundreds of meters. Surfers often opt to walk right back up the sand to the peak after their two minute rides.

Because the eco-lodge holds the sole permit on this protected beach, the lineup remains entirely uncrowded and virtually private, leaving one of the world's longest sand bottomed rights completely to us.

If the surf gets small, there are other wave options nearby giving us the opportunity to explore new spots and to go left!

Daily schedule

You and 6 other similar-levelled surfers will commit the week solely to your surf progression.

Our schedule is flexible to maximise alignment with the best waves, however here is a general outline of a typical coaching day

Morning

  • Morning surf

Afternoon/Evening

There will be plenty of time to rest and recover in between surf sessions and to hang out with your fellow guests & coach.

The coaching

Kale will utilise the world renowned surf progression curriculum The Surfer’s Roadmap, which focuses on clear, step by step and individual progression pathways to improve your surfing. Each surf session will be professionally filmed with production-quality equipment so that we can develop a comprehensive snapshot of your current surfing level.

Through comprehensive side by side video analysis, you’ll be taught the logical framework to take your surfing to the next level throughout the week. Surfers the world over have improved their surfing dramatically under Kale’s guidance, so much so that we have over 50% of our guests return each year.

We’ll have the chance to apply your technique development on a surf skate at the lodge, allowing you to kinaesthetically understand each movement before taking them to the waves.

The Eco-Lodge

You’ll be staying in stunning, entirely wooden eco-lodges and structures integrated directly into the dunes, featuring private terraces with your feet practically in the sand.

Guests can immerse themselves in the authentic, communal vibe of our traditional Shared Berber Tents with nearby shared bathroom facilities, opt for the elevated privacy and coastal comfort of a Private or Couples Bungalove, or completely indulge in the spacious luxury of our premier Private or Couples Villas featuring expansive private terraces. Whichever space you choose, you are just a few barefoot steps away from the sand, the restaurant, and a perfect right hand point break.

Buffets are renewed daily using organic vegetables and fruits harvested directly from the property’s on-site greenhouse and garden. From traditional Moroccan tagines, pastillas, and fresh Atlantic fish to vibrant salad bowls and international dishes, everything is tailored to keep your body perfectly fueled for the physical demands of the point break, leaving you completely free to eat, sleep, analyze your footage, and score the longest rights of your life.

Here’s some information on how you can join us in Morocco.

All our retreats sell out fast so please act fast or risk missing out!

  • After booking, you should reserve your flights to arrive at the local airport in Morocco on the day of your retreat’s first date. For example, if your retreat is listed as 20-27th November, then you should arrive on the 20th in time for our first rendezvous; dinner.

    Once you pay for your deposit we will be in touch with the finer details including which exact airport to arrive at (flights are offered regularly and at reasonable pricing within Morocco)

  • Follow the button above to pay your deposit to secure your spot. 90 days before the retreat, you will be required to pay the remainder of your bill.

    Ensure you have fully read the cancellation policy before booking.

  • Yes, after paying your deposit please get in touch with us and we can create a personalised itinerary for you to add on to your trip with us.

  • We unfortunately will not have a fleet of KBD surfboards available so you are expected to bring your own surfboards. You can hire equipment from the lodge however expect a limited range. We are doing consolidated deliveries of surfboards to Europe before this retreat so please make sure you check out our options at Kale Brock Designs.

  • Once you pay for your deposit we will be in touch with the finer details including which exact airport to arrive at (flights are offered regularly and at reasonable pricing within Morocco)

  • Upon your final payment, we’ll send you a pre-arrival video and retreat page, allowing you to submit your flight info and any dietary requirements you have, and to join your retreat WhatsApp group.

    We’ll also add you to The Surfer’s Roadmap for your pre-retreat study.

    We’ll see you for dinner on the first date of your retreat!

  • In the event of any cancellation for any reason we are not able to offer a refund or credit as we incur significant operational expense and financial commitment based on your booking.

    This is why we highly recommend that you obtain travel insurance as soon as you’ve paid your deposit in order to fully protect your trip. It is not our responsibility if your trip suddenly clashes with an important date or you can no longer attend due to unforeseen circumstances - a good travel insurance policy will have you covered.

    Please kindly note that invoices will be due for payment within 7 days of receiving and after two reminders are given your spot may be resold to another party.
